Pharmathen

While collaborating with King and I Learn, I partnered with Pharmathen to create eLearning experiences that transformed regulatory and quality topics into something truly imaginative. One standout course took the shape of a space exploration adventure, where learners traveled to 16 custom-designed planets, collected gems, and explored quality management through interactive HUDs, sci-fi visuals, and free-roam learning. Across multiple projects, I focused on designing colorful interfaces, icons, and characters that turned even the most technical subjects into fun, visually rich experiences.

Accomplishments:

  • Designed a full sci-fi learning journey with 16 unique planets
  • Created a gem-collecting gamified interface to boost engagement
  • Built immersive HUDs, quizzes, and click-reveal mechanics in Articulate Storyline
  • Illustrated vibrant icons and characters to humanize technical topics
  • Integrated custom video frames and animation for visual storytelling
  • Made quality management training playful, interactive, and unforgettable

Novartis

While working with Novartis Pharmaceuticals through King and I Learn, I helped bring a dense, information-heavy training course to life by transforming it into a more engaging, intuitive experience. To elevate the traditional click-reveal format, I designed an interactive learning dial interface that let learners navigate content in a more dynamic, exploratory way complete with animated transitions, videos, and custom-designed UI elements. The result was a sleek, animated system that made complex material approachable while keeping users visually and mentally engaged.

Accomplishments:

  • Designed a custom animated learning dial for intuitive navigation
  • Integrated videos, layered interactions, and click-reveal content
  • Transformed dense information into an exploratory learning experience
  • Crafted a cohesive interface with consistent design language
  • Used animation to guide flow and keep users engaged
  • Reimagined the click-reveal mechanic as a dynamic learning tool

AstraZeneca

Collaborating with AstraZeneca on a rapid-turnaround Articulate Storyline course, our team at King and I Learn pulled together seamlessly to deliver a beautifully designed and fully functional learning experience on a tight deadline. We combined sleek interface design with pre-built interactive elements like click-reveals and flip cards—ensuring both speed and polish. One standout creative effort was a fully illustrated 10-panel comic narrative developed for a lesson; though ultimately replaced by photography, the original artwork still lives on under the Illustrations tab of this site.

Accomplishments:

  • Rapid concept-to-completion turnaround
  • Collaborative sprint with a top-tier instructional team
  • Designed and illustrated a 10-panel narrative comic
  • Integrated reusable interactive templates like flip cards and reveals
  • Balanced visual storytelling with instructional clarity
  • Original narrative illustrations featured in portfolio gallery

Trellix

From January of 2022 to January of 2024 working predominately with Articulate Rise 360 and Articulate Storyline I was responsible for the conversion, update and maintenance of the entire FireEye/Trellix e-Learning web library, consisting of 39 courses. Some interactions like accordions and hotspot interactions were translated using Rise but the others, the more complex interactions like branching scenarios and dynamic screen tours, were developed using Articulate Storyline.

Accomplishments:

  • Converted, updated and maintained 39 e-learning courses using Articulate software
  • Scripted updates working with subject matter experts
  • Developed interactions that would engage learners
  • Developed exams & knowledge checks for learner retention
  • Using Articulate's built in functionality created SCORM packages and uploaded to an LMS
  • Coordinated with ILT instructors for consistency across training formats

California Institute for Biodiversity

In 2006 after a successful internship as a storyboard artist for the California Institute for Biodiversity (CIB) I began my career creating and updating illustrations for the non-profits existing e-learning catalogue of products. In 2007 I began developing new e-learning software and in 2009 I became lead developer. From 2007 to 2011 I assisted with the update and development of four separate e-learning softwares. In 2011 I was promoted to Director of E-Learning and as Director I had the pleasure of producing and writing my first e-Learning course where I acted as lead illustrator, designer, assistant animator and art director. In 2013 I moved on from my position as Director of E-Learning at CIB to help the newly formed FireEye education team flesh out, update and develop their e-learning library utilizing my skills as an Adobe Animate/Flash developer.

Accomplishments:

  • Developed new and updated existing e-learning projects
  • Assisted in facilitating peer reviews and end user feedback sessions
  • Storyboarded narratives and interactions
  • Directed an e-learning project from idea to publication
  • Animated and developed numerous diagrams and e-learning interactions
  • Marketed e-Learning projects and spearheaded social outreach
